James Darling Redpath was born in Otago in 1862, the second son of Thomas and Ann Redpath. He died in Auckland in 1928.
I have had difficulty finding out details of his life, until recently when I have been able to fill in more details from Electoral Rolls and Postal Directories. These records are in The Anne Bromell Collection available on Ancestry.com.
The Electoral Rolls provided the following information: 1890 Ploughman, Waitahuna, Otago; 1896-1900 Settler, Rangiwahia, Manawatu; 1905-1914 Settler, Feilding, Manawatu; 1919 Fruiterer, Auckland.
The Postal Directories provided the following information: 1896-1902 farmer Rangiwahia; 1903 farmer Kimbolton, Manawatu, 1904-1910 no entry; 1911-1917 storeman Feilding, with occupation given in the street directory as salesman 1917; 1917-1919 no entry; 1920 salesman Devonport Auckland.
This information will be used to update the biography for James Redpath available on my New Zealand Geneaolgy Project site (Changes available 2 April 2011). There were errors in the biography previously posted.
