People photographs were obtained during a recent visit to New Zealand. In a visit to Tairawhiti Museum in Gisborne, Dudley Meadows was very patient in looking for photos about Matawai I could use – a couple have been used for the page of photos from the Gisborne to Motuhora (Moutohora) railway.
I recently obtained an old photograph album and loose photos that belonged to Harold Trueman. After Harold died, the photographs were retained by the Palmerston North City Council from when they cleaned out the house that Harold rented. Catheryn Te Paiho contacted me about the photos and sent the collection. Some of the photographs are labelled on the back, but many are not.
I have added a page to my genealogy web site that has some of the photos. This post has several additional photos. Please comment if you can help identify or confirm identity.
George Henry Trueman (1876-1961) and his wife Mabel Alice Halpin (1894-1935) had a daughter (Thelma Rita 1927-1987) and two sons (Harold 1930-2011 and Alick 1932-2006). The family lived in Palmerston North. Most of the photos in the collection are of members of the family.
Annie Elizabeth TRUEMAN has, until very recently, been a mystery to me. I was unable to find her death registration, a marriage registration, or descendants. Her school attendance records in Wellington had been found, but nothing from her adult life. Her branch of the Trueman family was a mystery.
That changed when I noticed a match on MyHeritage.com. I made contact with Murray Griffin who had loaded his tree containing details of Annie Trueman on MyHeritage.com. His tree had a partner for Annie (George ROBINSON), ten children, and over 30 descendants.
I was still unable to find a marriage registration, but this match did lead to considerable detail for another branch of the TRUEMAN tree. I have since been able to find additional family details from other sources.
A brief biography for Annie Elizabeth TRUEMAN is shown on my web page for the Trueman family.
